Public Consultation: Your Guide to Property Education

Public consultation end date: 5.30PM on 10th July 2020

Objective

To help property investors identify credible property educators and reduce the risk of losing money when investing in property education.

Details

The Property Investors Bureau is currently in the process of putting together a document entitled “Your Guide to Property Education”. All property educators who gain accreditation from the PIB have agreed to forward the “Your Guide to Property Education” document to their potential customers before they complete a purchase.

The property education categories that the document will initially cover include:

  • General property investment advice
  • Packaged property deals
  • HMO property investment
  • Joint venture deals
  • Serviced accommodation
  • Rent-to-rent
  • Property development
  • Commercial property
  • SSAS property investments
  • Land sourcing

Question

What advice would you give to someone wanting to purchase education in any of the above property categories?

Format of your response

[Property education category]: [Your suggested advice]

Example response

Joint Ventures: Joint ventures often break down when partners fail to recognise that there is no such thing as equal partners. Partners will offer different attributes to the partnership with differing levels of expertise and potentially finance, so it is important to clearly define everyone’s role within the partnership in writing. What are your responsibilities? What are your aims and objectives? What are your contingency plans? As well as this, it is important to establish an exit strategy and insert necessary clauses into contracts. Ideally, you will employ a solicitor to draw up a professional JV agreement.

Please leave your response in the comment section below or email it to info@pibuk.org.
